Garage Door Paint

This house needs a lot of work! Andrew is very excited to get started and really wants to get the house painted this summer. He got started on the garage door yesterday, it really needed it!

The house was built in 1975, which was before the ban on lead paint. That means that there cannot be any chopped paint, or exposed wood on the exterior. So Andrew went down with some primer and covered all the bare spots. Horrible, simply horrible.

 Aw....that's much better!

Is This the Same Oven?

And with a little elbow grease (and some help from Ady) it now looks like this!

When we moved in our oven looked like this

New Aerotor

Today Mr .Handy came home with a new aerotor! I am so happy that I don't have to wash dishes while getting a shower :) The spray from the sink would drench me every night, thank you Mr. Handy!

A Short Visit

Today I went to the condo - as I drove through the neighborhood I got a little emotional, the trees are beautiful! The landscaping is gorgeous! I did really like the condo - here are just a few things that I will miss:

Ady's room that we worked so hard to paint. Andrew hand cut (without a template) all the stensils to make these cute hearts with little flowers inside.

It was a lot of work and I really did like it! Now her room is just plain pink...not cool hearts :(

A built in microwave...I know I can get one of these eventually, but it will probably be a while. It's not really on the high priority list.

A double sink - right now mine's a single and it's stainless. I would love to have a porcelain double sink again...I don't see that happening, maybe a stainless double, but bye-bye porcelain.

My stove/oven - I loved my electric stove and little oven. I made hundreds and hundreds of meals on/in here. Everyday for the past 5 years, we were close :) I don't feel the same way about the stove in the house. Then again it's probably older than I am.

My cabinets - they were so clean! No contact paper, a fresh white coat with no potential slivers, and a clean oak finish

And this is what I went back to the condo to get...yes a little hook to hang my outdoor plants, but Andrew hand-made it for me. He didn't even use a tool to bend it, and I just can't leave it behind!

Project # 1 Make Fridge Fit

Andrew was so excited to get started on fixing things he tore apart my cabinets the first day we moved in! Of course my fridge wouldn't have fit if he hadn't :) But seriously something needs to be done with those cabinets! They are in horrible shape, and there is light blue or 80's floral contact paper on every shelf!

Today's Projects

I love the new vinyl floor in here! The carpet was really badly stained and made it seem a lot smaller, I can't wait to turn this into my laundry room :)

The girls' footprints by the front stoop

The new carpet!

Ady's Room Before During and After

Ady's room - carpet is filthy!

Andrew is not so into pink...but it's Ady's room...and I get to pick all the inside colors :)

Love it! We tore out the carpet, it was pretty bad

Looks so much better with brand new carpet!

Living Room Before During and After

Plain white walls - when we bought this house I pictured this in a dark green with one of Andrew's stainless art pieces.

I love the colors in our condo, so I really wanted a tan on this wall

It's tan, but looks a little more gold in this pic

Yes! Dark Forrest Pine! Can't wait to get up some stainless art :)

Master Bedroom Before During and After

Plain white closet, no doors

Nice big window, with a view of blackberry bushes

Halfway through painting!

Joelle helping out painting! She was great!

Andrew finishing up the trim

I love the color! Sweet Tea - I was originally only going to do 2 walls, but Andrew loved it so much he convinced me to do all four...and look, no blackberry bushes! And beautiful new carpet!

It looks SO much better painted...and with the new carpet

There was a wall paper boarder that we ripped down

New carpet, new paint ah!

Painting Party Day 2!

We got a lot done today. We painted the entire hallway, 2 coats, and the living room and dining room with 2 coats!

There is still one wall in the dinning room left, a second coat in the guest bathroom, a third coat in Ady's room, the kitchen, and the master bathroom.

This is our lovely dinning room before paint...

Our living room before paint and before new carpet...

Living room and dinning room in the process of painting...more pictures to come later as we didn't quite finish all the walls. Joelle has been a huge help to us! I am so happy with the color that we chose!

I put the girls in the room that is going to eventually be the laundry room., Ady enjoyed eating her lunch with Sierra

The back fence had fallen down and that was one of the projects that Andrew wanted to finish before we move in.
It looks so good! Almost done, only 2 more boards.

Let's Get This Party Started!

Today we spent the entire day out at the house getting things painted. I feel like I got off to a slow start, but in the end we did 2 coats in all the bedrooms and 1 coat in the bathroom. Hopefully we can get more done tomorrow.

Sierra's room had a wallpaper boarder and bluish-purple walls that were poorly painted. It was a lot of work to get all that wallpaper off.

I LOVE the color that we chose for Sierra's room. We had friends come over to help us get some of the painting done!

There is a park right out the back gate - it was a great place to take a break before dinner.

Sierra at the new house! Happy day :)

The Stackpoles came over to play with the girls while I painted. It was great to have them there!

Dinner time!
The master bedroom, everyone really liked the color - Sweet Tea - I almost didn't get it because the name sounds like it would be more orange, but I am really happy with it and Andrew is too :)

Joelle is the painting expert! She gave us a ton of tips on painting and helped us get a ton of it done!
Andrew was pretty excited that he got to use the lawn mower that we bought last summer :)
