This Miracle Home
In April 2011 we decided we wanted to uproot and move our family to a whole new neighborhood! After several weeks of searching we found the perfect home - several months later we packed up a few trailers and with the help of some great friends moved 6.5 miles down the road to a beautiful 1975 ranch style home! There is an overabundance of repairs and updates that need to be done but we have our paint brushes and hammers ready!

The Laundry Room
My favorite project to date! Our spare room is being converted into a laundry/craft/school room! My laundry closet was in the hallway , so Andrew opened up the back wall of the closet (which was in the spare room) and closed up the original opening. The lovely '70's vinyl you see? That was the original laundry closet, only the wall was on the other side. Andrew put in new bamboo floors, cabinets all around, and a drop down work table! It's so wonderful to have an entire room devoted to Homeschooling and crafts. Not to mention the washer/dryer are now in a room and lots quieter :)

Garage Door Paint
This house needs a lot of work! Andrew is very excited to get started and really wants to get the house painted this summer. He got started on the garage door yesterday, it really needed it!
The house was built in 1975, which was before the ban on lead paint. That means that there cannot be any chopped paint, or exposed wood on the exterior. So Andrew went down with some primer and covered all the bare spots. Horrible, simply horrible.
Aw....that's much better!

Is This the Same Oven?
And with a little elbow grease (and some help from Ady) it now looks like this!
When we moved in our oven looked like this

New Aerotor
Today Mr .Handy came home with a new aerotor! I am so happy that I don't have to wash dishes while getting a shower :) The spray from the sink would drench me every night, thank you Mr. Handy!

A Short Visit
Today I went to the condo - as I drove through the neighborhood I got a little emotional, the trees are beautiful! The landscaping is gorgeous! I did really like the condo - here are just a few things that I will miss:
Ady's room that we worked so hard to paint. Andrew hand cut (without a template) all the stensils to make these cute hearts with little flowers inside.
It was a lot of work and I really did like it! Now her room is just plain pink...not cool hearts :(
A built in microwave...I know I can get one of these eventually, but it will probably be a while. It's not really on the high priority list.
A double sink - right now mine's a single and it's stainless. I would love to have a porcelain double sink again...I don't see that happening, maybe a stainless double, but bye-bye porcelain.
My stove/oven - I loved my electric stove and little oven. I made hundreds and hundreds of meals on/in here. Everyday for the past 5 years, we were close :) I don't feel the same way about the stove in the house. Then again it's probably older than I am.
My cabinets - they were so clean! No contact paper, a fresh white coat with no potential slivers, and a clean oak finish
And this is what I went back to the condo to get...yes a little hook to hang my outdoor plants, but Andrew hand-made it for me. He didn't even use a tool to bend it, and I just can't leave it behind!

Project # 1 Make Fridge Fit
Andrew was so excited to get started on fixing things he tore apart my cabinets the first day we moved in! Of course my fridge wouldn't have fit if he hadn't :) But seriously something needs to be done with those cabinets! They are in horrible shape, and there is light blue or 80's floral contact paper on every shelf!
